A Course with Majestic Scenery!
Ibusuki City, located at the southern tip of Kagoshima Prefecture's Satsuma Peninsula, is a warm region renowned since ancient times as a hot spring destination.
During this season, the marathon course is adorned with vibrant rapeseed blossoms in full bloom, creating a spectacle often described as "a carpet of yellow" or "like running through a painting!"
Furthermore, you'll run a loop course without any backtracking, enjoying the wild and scenic beauty of the majestic Mount Kaimon, known as "Satsuma Fuji," and Lake Ikeda, the largest lake in Kyushu.

An 8-Hour Time Limit Welcoming to Beginners
The full marathon offers a generous 8-hour time limit, making it accessible for senior runners and beginners lacking confidence in completing a full marathon. With enthusiastic crowd support and delicious local food at aid stations, you’ll be energized to reach the finish line! For those hesitant about the full distance, a 12km race is also available.
Renowned for Exceptional Hospitality
Beyond the stunning scenery, this marathon is celebrated for the warm support of locals, including cheering crowds, live performances, and numerous private aid stations offering local delicacies.
Enjoy Japanese specialties like udon (or soba), rice balls, zenzai (sweet red bean soup), steamed sweet potatoes, and Kagoshima’s traditional "chabushi" (fish broth). Runners also receive hot spring discount vouchers for a post-race treat. New for this year, a "cheer bus" will operate, touring key spots along the course, allowing accompanying family members to cheer and enjoy sightseeing. In its 43rd year, the marathon embraces the motto "Japan’s No. 1 Hospitality." Look forward to heartfelt cheers, private aid stations, and warm interactions with the local community!
