Lake Shinji Views & Beautiful Castle Town
Starting from the city center, you’ll soon see the majestic National Treasure Matsue Castle. After passing through a tunnel, a stunning panorama unfolds: Nakaumi, Lake Shinji, Daikon Island, Yomegashima, the impressive Eshima Ohashi Bridge (nicknamed the “Betafumi Slope”), and distant mountain ranges including Mt. Daisen. Known as the “City of Water,” Matsue offers scenic beauty shaped by its lakes and islands.
Overall, the route is mostly flat and easy to run, with two moderate ups and downs around the 10 km mark in the first half and another in the final 10 km , providing just the right amount of challenge.
Running while watching the shijimi fishing boats floating on Lake Shinji adds a uniquely local touch of atmosphere.

Matsue’s Warm Hospitality!
Along the course, local residents of all ages—from children to seniors—cheer you on, while musical performances and other entertainment give you an extra boost.
A standout feature is the “shijimi clam soup” available at the later aid stations! Made with the famous clams from Lake Shinji, its rich, savory flavor and warmth soothe tired, chilled bodies—the perfect recovery drink. Packed with ornithine, taurine, salt, and minerals, it’s highly loved by runners as the ideal mid-to-late race boost.
Other local treats such as grilled flying fish (ago), pickled turnip, mandarin oranges, and specialty sweets are also offered, filling both body and spirit with genuine Matsue hospitality.

Reliable Hospitality You Can Trust
As a tourist-friendly city, Matsue is well-prepared to welcome international visitors. With a large number of race volunteers, you can participate with peace of mind.
