  ONICO Gdynia Half Marathon certified IAAF Bronze Label Road Race, which is awarded to events with a high level of organizational and sports and the five stars awarded by the European Federation of athletics. In November 2016 the board of the Polish Association of Athletics decided that ONICO Gdynia Half Marathon will be officially submitted to the International Federation of Light Athletics (IAAF) as a candidate to host the World Championships marathon in 2020.
